Men's Activities

On September 26, 2010, the men of First Baptist Church Fort Payne gathered for a breakfast to welcome a new era of men’s ministry at the church.  Formerly called Brotherhood, this organized men’s group had become dormant.  With God moving hearts and minds, an opportunity blossomed for men to recognize the importance of men’s ministry to individuals and the congregation.

Over fifty men responded to the call for action.  Over the last few months, men have done porch repair, roof repair and placement, brush clearing and food box delivery.

With the new year, Men’s Ministry will again be involved with our church and community.  We look forward to Easter with an emphasis on prayer, building relationships among men in the congregation with small group bible study and “Let’s Do Lunch,” a time when men can get together for lunch and discover who the guy really is sitting in the pew in front of him.

The Lord’s Table is another aspect of the Men’s Ministry. It is a food bank sponsored and serviced in large part by the First Baptist Church with other support coming from grocery store and food provider donors. The food is distributed the last Saturday of each month to anyone who requests food. Usually between 200 and 400 families receive food each month. Volunteers are needed to unload trucks with the food donations, to manage the warehouse full of food and to help distribute food.
