ADVANCE-ING THE GOSPEL

The Pastor's Perspective
22 May 2017 by Pastor

Greetings Church Family!

Today I had the opportunity to hear one of our homegrown missionaries, Jess Jennings, when he spoke at the weekly meeting of Dekalb Baptist Association pastors in Rainsville. Jess shared powerful stories of God at work in the Philippines and Southeast Asia as a whole. One of the most powerful statements he made was that what we view as the MISSION FIELD is quickly becoming the MISSION FORCE.

In addition to their work as field missionaries, Jess and Wendy have spearheaded the Nehemiah Teams for over a decade. This amazing initiative, in which several of our own FBCFP students have participated, equips students each summer to serve as missionaries around the globe. God has worked some truly God-sized wonders through this endeavor, but there is much work left to be done.

If you've ever had the opportunity to speak with Jess for more than thirty seconds, you know that God has given him a passion and vision for equipping missionaries to expand the Kingdom cause of ADVANCING the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Jess states without reservation that the goal of the Nehemiah teams is to fulfill the Great Commission in this generation. The pursuit of that vision has led to the Jennings' most recent measure in training missionaries, the AOT camp. AOT stands for ADVANCE OPERATIONS TRAINING. That's "ADVANCE," not "ADVANCED"–the core emphasis is that this facility serves to ADVANCE the Gospel by preparing missionaries to take the good news of Jesus Christ to those who have not received it.

That's where we, in partnership with other local churches, enter the picture. The construction of the AOT camp is a substantial undertaking, and much work remains to be done. Throughout the summer, we will be collecting funds to support building efforts at the camp. Jess will be preaching at FBCFP on August 6, and I would love to present him with our church family's offering as he ministers to us from the pulpit that morning. I am attaching a PDF to this post that details the plans for the AOT camp and the cost of acquiring materials for each component. Please prayerfully consider what you–what WE–can give in order to help make the vision of this ministry a reality by God's power and for God's glory.

TO SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE AOT CAMP, PLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO FBCFP AND WRITE "AOT CAMP" IN THE MEMO LINE.

One of the most impacting things I have heard Jess say is: "We can't do it without God. God won't do it without us." I pray that, as we give, God will bless all that we can do to support what only He can do. Soli Deo Gloria.

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Nathan
