Doris Martin Elliott

Doris Martin Elliott, a native of Richmond, Virginia and graduate of Mars Hill College, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education. After teaching in Virginia and Collinsville, Al, for approximately 20 years, she retired from teaching to join the First Baptist Church Staff.

She met her husband, Bill, at Mars Hill. It was his first year teaching English and she was a junior. Since he was single, the teachers wanted to find him a girlfriend. They pointed out her picture from the annual. It turned out that he knew her sister and brother-in-law from Samford.

She has three grown daughters and a grandson and three granddaughters.
She has been a member of First Baptist Church in Ft. Payne for 26 years and on staff for over 10 years. After being a part of and leading mission trips, in town ministries, VBS, Sunday School, Discipleship Training, GAs, Acteens, etc. she joined the FBC Staff in the fall of 2000.

She has also been active in the DeKalb Baptist Association leading various workshops with VBS & WMU and is a team member of the On Mission Team. She was also a Mission Education Volunteer with the State WMU for NE Alabama. For eight years, Doris was the DeKalb Philippine Mission Coordinator organizing Mission Teams to work in the Philippines.

Doris loves reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her favorite movie is Blind Side. She also enjoys watching movies with her young grandchildren.

She enjoys most kinds of food, but her favorite is Chinese.

The most powerful book she has ever read is the Bible. Psalms and Luke are her favorite books of the Bible.

Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
